I want to begin with an honest admission: Prince Caspian is not the most beloved of the Narnia films, and the book, while deeply important, is not Lewis at his most luminous. Lewis himself acknowledged in letters that he felt Prince Caspian was somewhat less successful than the other Chronicles. It lacks the concentrated spiritual beauty of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the mythic power of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
